Parts Apprentice

Terberg DTS UK is looking for a Parts Apprentice to join our Parts Department.

Location: Elland, Halifax

Overall purpose of the job:

This apprenticeship role is designed to provide a structured and supported introduction to supply chain operations within a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The Parts Apprentice will gain hands-on experience across procurement, stock control, and warehouse logistics, contributing to the smooth flow of goods and services across the business. This role supports the development of a well-rounded understanding of the end-to-end supply chain, with a focus on delivering value, accuracy, and efficiency.

The apprentice will attend college in block weeks each quarter and will work towards the Level 3 Supply Chain Practitioner standard. In the final year, they will complete a portfolio and prepare for the End Point Assessment (EPA).

Responsibilities:

  • Support the receipt, inspection, and correct storage of goods and parts.
  • Assist with picking and packing of parts for internal teams and external engineers.
  • Input and maintain accurate stock data using inventory systems.
  • Participate in regular stock counts and help investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist in raising purchase orders and liaising with suppliers under supervision.
  • Help maintain supplier records, including delivery times, pricing, and product details.
  • Support the coordination of uniform and PPE orders for new starters.
  • Assist in preparing new starter welcome packs and liaising with HR.
  • Help manage ongoing contracts for uniform and hygiene services.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors for stationery, merchandise, and other supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse environment.
  • Ensure goods are handled and shipped accurately and without damage.
  • Provide administrative support to the Parts and Procurement team.
  • Engage with colleagues across departments to understand the wider supply chain impact.
  • Attend quarterly college block weeks and complete all apprenticeship learning requirements.
  • Build a portfolio of evidence and prepare for the End Point Assessment in the final year.

Knowledge to gain:

  • End-to-end understanding of supply chain functions in an Fast-Moving Consumer Goods environment.
  • Procurement and purchasing processes.
  • Stock control principles, including FIFO and inventory accuracy.
  • Health & safety, hygiene, and PPE requirements.
  • Supplier relationship management and contract coordination.
  • Use of digital tools for forecasting, planning, and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience required:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Level 2 must be achieved before EPA if not already held).
  • Interest in supply chain, logistics, or procurement.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or administrative setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to undertake training and complete the Level 3 Supply Chain Practitioner apprenticeship.
