Mobile Service Engineer - Defence

Location: Mobile – Stevenage, Bedford, Luton region

Terberg DTS UK is looking for a Mobile Service Engineer for the Defence team.

What is the job role?

Perform a variety of routine servicing, inspections and subsequent repairs to MoD vehicles and Aircraft Support Equipment either on MoD premises or within the Halifax workshop. To quickly and accurately diagnose vehicle and support equipment defects and repair appropriately. To undertake other vehicle and support equipment servicing, repairs and other related work as directed. To work accurately, following commercial and military publications as appropriate. Carry out technical inspections and repairs using technical manuals and diagnostic techniques to find and repair inoperable or defective machine parts, components or systems using a small variety of test equipment. To work within time constraints, ensuring optimum levels of vehicle availability are achieved thereby ensuring acceptable levels of customer satisfaction. Will be required to undertake thorough inspections of accident damaged machines and produce accurate reports to enable repair.  For the greater period working without direct supervision, observing all company and site Health & Safety requirements at all times.

Requirements and what we are looking for

  • To represent Terberg DTS Service Department in the ‘field’ and to display the highest standards of appearance, manner and technical ability.
  • To ensure maintenance and repairs are carried out in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations, MoD instructions/regulations and Terberg’s Safe Systems of Work.
  • To obtain agreement from the customer that the work has been completed as required/requested and in all cases to obtain acceptance of the equipment by the customer following repair/maintenance.
  • To understand the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and to work safely and co-operate to enable Terberg DTS (UK) Ltd to fulfil its statutory obligations and that all staff are responsible for safety in their own working area.
  • Attend all training courses/seminars as the business requires.
  • To keep all company equipment in a clean, safe and presentable manner (i.e. company vehicles etc, etc)
  • Ensure high standards of preventative maintenance and repairs are actioned in line with MoD documentation, manufacturers’ recommendations/instructions and our Safe System of Work procedures.
  • Knowledge of latest diagnostic systems including MANCAT 3 and Deutz Serdia.
  • To hold a level 3 qualification in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair or City and Guilds Level 3 (Vehicle Mechanical and Electronic Systems) Maintenance and Repair Qualification or equivalent qualification.
  • To demonstrate substantial experience in vehicle fault diagnosis and resultant repairs, including the use of diagnostic equipment. To include working experience on a range of heavy goods / specialist vehicle and Ground Support Equipment.
  • UK valid driving licence.
