Workshop Manager

Location: Elland, Halifax

Terberg DTS UK are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Workshop Manager to join our Elland office.

What is the job role?

To oversee overall responsibilities for the Workshop Operation within Terberg DTS with high level accountability. Ensuring the effective running of the workshop to proactively prepare specialist vehicles for customers; Including all shotblasting, welding, fabrication, paint preparation, paint spraying, mechanical and quality checking throughout the department. To provide great customer Service, quality, compliance and unit availability. To have operational efficiency and effectiveness through recruitment and management of available resources. Provide profitability, utilisation, efficiency and margin generation to be key Department indexes. To have responsibility for the management, recruitment, development and welfare of the relevant Terberg workshop employees.

Requirements and what we are looking for

  • Ensure Workshop practices are constantly reviewed, audited where required and revised where appropriate to achieve optimum levels of service, safety and efficiency.
  • Accept accountability for the performance of Workshop operations and for the support, growth and development of the team.
  • Identify opportunity for continual cost savings and efficiency improvements with recommended actions – in particular labour control, efficiency and
  • productivity.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company policy, protocols, procedures and H&S parameters.
  • Able to identify issues, evaluate and put solutions in place – problem solving skills.
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines, under pressure and with a sense of urgency.
  • Communications skills, both verbal and in writing, together with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Able to drive team /department goals and keeps team members working together.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritising skills.
  • The ability to present and provide updates to managers and employees.
  • Self-motivational with the ability to challenge the status quo, and research and offer suggestions for improving efficiency or customer experience.
  • HGV / Specialist vehicle product knowledge.
  • Aftermarket / Workshop Business and Financial acumen.
  • General business experience and understanding is essential, Rental operation experience preferred.
  • A solid understanding of people management and customer service.
